Prof. Alfredo Soldati
Alfredo Soldati is Professor of Fluid Mechanics at the Technische Universit at Wien (Austria). The focus of the research of his group is on turbulent multiphase flows, trying to capture the inherent multiscale aspects from fundamentals to applications. The research activity is developed in the computational and the experimental laboratories with specific interest in fundamental studies on turbulent dispersed flows of particles, bubbles, droplets and fibers.
After his PhD in chemical Engineering at the University of Pisa (Italy), and a visiting appointment at UCSB (CA), Dr. Soldati became assistant, associate and full professor in Udine. He was also guest Professor at EPFL (Switzerland), at INP Toulouse (France) and at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa (Italy). He is fellow of the American Physical Society, the recipient of the 2007 Knapp award and of the 2015 Lewis F. Moody Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the recipient of the International Prize and Gold Medal Panetti–Ferrari, from Accademia delle Scienze di Torino, Italia, and is awarded the 2020 ASME Freeman Scholarship and Lecture. Dr. Soldati is currently part time professor at University of Udine, and he is the Rector of the International Center for Mechanical Sciences, CISM.
Dr. Soldati is Co-Editor in Chief of International Journal of Multiphase Flow, past Editor of Acta Mechanica and ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering and was the Chairman of the 9th International Conference of Multiphase Flow.
