Wang Xudong, male, born in Shandan of Gansu Province in 1967, is a research librarian, adjunct professor and doctoral tutor at Lanzhou University, an adjunct professor and doctoral tutor at Northwestern University. Nowadays, he acts as the secretary of the party committee and dean of the Dunhuang Research Institute. He is also the leading talents in philosophy and social science of the third batch of national "Ten Thousand People Plan".
From September of 1986 to July of 1990, he had studied the major of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology at Department of Geology of Lanzhou University as an undergraduate , and obtained the bachelor's degree.
In 1995, he was admitted to the Department of Geology of Lanzhou University to study for a master's degree, learning from Associate Professor Zhang Mingquan.
In 1999, he was admitted to the School of Resources and Environment of Lanzhou University where he studied under the supervision of Professor Han Wenfeng and Li Zhixiong for his doctorate in geological engineering.
In 2003, he received the doctor's degree in Engineering.
In December of 2014, he served as the dean of Dunhuang Research Institute.
He is the alternate member of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
