It was these invited reports on cutting-edge scientific research that attracted more than 6,800 scholars, including academician Zhang Pingxiang of Western Superconductor Corporation, to attend the online conference and participate in the interactive communication.

In his opening speech, Zhou emphasized the theme of "innovation-driven development" and elaborated the theme of "new fields, new theories, new methods, new technologies and high performance". He pointed out: innovative development is to have a new expansion in the research field, in the theory, method and technology of the three aspects of the new breakthrough, so as to achieve the goal of high-performance achievements. Then Zhou and the academicians briefly introduced the agenda of the meeting, the 8 speakers and 5 presenters. On behalf of the Professional Committee of Solid Mechanics of Chinese Society of Mechanics, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the 8 presenters.

Aiming at the problems in the experimental phenomena of Thermal Stability in Nano-grained Alloys, Academician Zhang Uni-president introduced a multi-scale and multi-physical coupled model and quantitative analysis method for studying the thermal stability of nanocrystalline alloys. Based on this theoretical prediction approach, the grain boundary thermal stability law of a series of important experimental phenomena and the technical scheme to improve the mechanical properties of materials are quantitatively revealed. In his report titled "From the Perspective of Fusion Reactor Design in China, the Demand for Mechanics", Academician Li Jiangang introduced the creative and systematic work made by the research team in the engineering design of fusion reactor in China for a long time, as well as a large number of mechanics problems to be solved, and called on the mechanics workers to actively contribute to the design and construction of fusion reactor in China. Academician Zhai Wanming (part of the lecture is delivered by researcher Zhao Xin from Southwest Jiaotong University) put forward a set of mechanical model and experimental implementation scheme for quantitative analysis of longitudinal and transverse non-uniform wear of high-speed railway in the report entitled Wheel-rail Wear Problems in China, and then revealed the generation mechanism and main influencing factors of wheel-rail wear. The corresponding early warning and prevention technology is put forward, which provides theoretical guidance and technical guarantee for the safe operation of high-speed railway in China. In the report entitled "Research on Long-life Fatigue Behavior of Welding and Additive Manufacturing Metal Materials", Professor Wang Qingyuan introduced the innovative research results of his research team in the detection methods and techniques of ultra-long life fatigue, the microscopic mechanism of fatigue failure, the quantitative influence of defects on fatigue and the corresponding reliability design. In his report entitled "Solid at the Nanoscale: Extreme Strength and Elasticity", Academician Yang Wei introduced the high-performance nanoscale experimental device developed by Zhejiang University Cross Mechanics Center, which has been adopted by many universities at home and abroad, as well as the cutting-edge research achievements in the extreme hardness and strength of diamond and the extreme elasticity of nanoice fiber. In his presentation entitled "Deployment Dynamics of Large Flexible Space Structures -- Modeling, Calculation and Optimization", Academician Hu Haiyan (delivered by Professor Tian Qiang from Beijing Institute of Technology) introduced the research team's innovations in the dynamics modeling of the gap motion between the flexible components and space structures deployed by aerospace antennas, as well as the deployment dynamics analysis and calculation methods and optimization design of large space structures New sex research results. Prof. Zhao Hongwei (delivered by Prof. Wu Wei, Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) systematically introduced a series of important advances made by the research team in the design, manufacture, testing technology and operation safety monitoring of high field superconducting magnets for particle accelerators in his report entitled "Requirements for Research on High field Superconducting magnets for particle accelerators and their Mechanical Properties". And the important supporting role played by mechanics (including the cooperation with Zhou Youhe and his team from Lanzhou University) and the key mechanics problems still to be solved. Finally, Academician Wei Yueguang systematically introduced the "top-down" cross-scale mechanics theory, model, computational analysis method, experimental technology and their application in his report titled "Cross-scale Mechanical Behavior of Multi-scale Solids", and expounded the internal relationship and pros and cons of the two basic research ideas of "top-down" and "bottom-up". Thoughts on the development trend of cross-scale solid mechanics research were shared. Around these eight academic reports that face the frontier of the discipline and the major needs of the country, the experts and scholars at the meeting held a heated discussion after each report, exchanged their own thoughts and opinions, and expressed their willingness to carry out further cooperative research.

In his concluding speech, Zhou Youhe, on behalf of the Professional Committee of Solid Mechanics, first of all expressed his sincere thanks to the 8 special rapporteurs for their high-level reports, and expressed his sincere thanks to the mechanics colleagues at home and abroad for their long-term strong support to the development of China's solid mechanics cause and the work of the Professional committee. He also hoped that you could continue to care for, help and guide as always. At the same time, he pointed out that the eight specially invited reports of this conference are rich in connotation and far-reaching in significance, which deeply and vividly explain the theme of "New fields, new theories, new methods, new technologies and high performance". He believes that the majority of participants will gain full benefits from them. Later, Zhou and academicians made a brief summary of the common characteristics of the eight reports or scientific research, namely the "four requests". First, we need to know the "needs", that is, we need to find problems from the scientific frontier and the major national needs; Second, we should have "pursuit", that is, we should dare to overcome the scientific and technological problems we face. Third, we should be good at "seeking", that is, we should be able to find the right way to make a breakthrough; Fourth, we should be careful to "verify", that is, to verify the validity of the research results and know the applicability and value of the results. Finally, Zhou and the academician pointed out that there are a large number of problems in solid mechanics that need to be solved urgently in the scientific frontier and major national needs, and the future development of solid mechanics has a broad world and promising prospects. They sincerely hope that the majority of young scholars can make more and greater contributions to the development of China's solid mechanics cause and the improvement of the national scientific and technological level. Finally, Zhou and academicians announced the successful conclusion of the solid mechanics conference.
