On the evening of Sept. 11, College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of Lanzhou University held the opening ceremony for Grade-2019 undergraduates in the gymnasium of Yuzhong Campus. The party and government team of the college, Grade-2019 head teachers Zhao Zhonghu, Zhang Juanjuan and Wang Huaping, part-time undergraduate counselor Dong Lanfeng, Grade-2019 academic tutors Cheng Ning, Wang Juan and Peng Baorui attended the ceremony. Students and faculty staff, deputy head teachers of Grade-2019 undergraduates and all 155 Grade-2019 undergraduates also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Li Zhilong, deputy secretary of the college party committee.

The ceremony began with the solemn national anthem. Huang Ning, dean of the college, extended a warm welcome to the Grade-2019 freshmen who came from all parts of the country in his speech, meanwhile, put forward two hopes for the new students. First, he hopes that the new students would grow to be ambitious and responsible "People of Lanzhou University". Second, he hopes that the new students would grow to be motivated and persistent "People of Engineering”, lead their own wonderful college life, learn professional knowledge well, develop professional skills, and contribute to the construction of the motherland.

Vice President Wang Xingzhe gave a detailed introduction to the college's development history, discipline construction, teaching staff, scientific research, personnel training, and exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad.

With solemn music, 155 freshmen of Grade-2019 took the stage one by one, while college leaders, academic tutors and head teachers wore them university badges and issued guidance manuals.


It is reported that the whole WeChat teletext of the ceremony was broadcast for freshmen's parents via the Internet, so that parents were able to feel the strong educational atmosphere of the university through the Internet, and experience the profound humanistic feelings of the college, so a desirable home-school cooperative educational effect thus has been achieved.
